Non-Structural Land Management Program

Kittson and Roseau Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) are offering the Non-Structural Land Management (NSLM) Program through the Two Rivers Plus Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan.

The primary goal of this program is to encourage landowners to try different land management practices that has less requirements than federal programs; thus, making it easier to enroll and maintain compliance.

Land management practices have multiple benefits such as preventing soil erosion, increasing soil fertility, improving soil quality, suppressing weeds, improving water management, breaking disease cycles, helping with pest management, increasing diversity, and wildlife habitat.

Contracts may be for one year. The maximum acres are 80 acres per practice.

1-Year Contract
Single Species Cover Crop: $25/acre
Multi-Species Cover Crop: $50/acre
Conservation Tillage Practice: $50/acre
